chair chair

Amelia is ready to start eating solids. I decided this after I saw her swallow her latest round of curd-like spit-up (she must have known I was wearing my last clean pair of shorts). I figured, with Elijah at work today, I'd be the super mom that I've always wanted to be and put together the high chair. That should make some of you laugh; at least the ones who know that there is a clear division of male/female labor in the Ogden household. Sure both genders are capable of taking out the trash, but I filed that under 'husband's job' just like laundry became my domain several years ago. What can I say? I guess we're old fashioned that way - plus trash is just gross. That being said, I'm still super psyched to start putting the high chair together (can someone say sleeping through?).

I lug the box out of her closet just after putting her down, thinking that this can't take more than 30 minutes. I tear open the box and pull out all of the pieces. I don't place them in the same order as they're shown on the instruction sheet as Elijah would do. Instead, I tear into the box, throwing styrofoam and plastic bags all over the dining room. I then reach for the instructions and begin searching for pieces A, B and C trying not to let the fact that there are screws included freak me out too much. Aaaand stop. Seriously. The seat cover was missing . You know the soft pillowy thing that ends up in the washer every day? No where to be seen. I search the box for signs of tampering. I try to remember if I actually had to unwrap all those little pieces and I can only assume I did since I can barely see my floor.

So what now? Well, normally I would call the store or company and get a replacement, or refund or at least somene to yell at. However, since this particular item was purchased on clearance about five months ago for $18 by a friend due two months after me (and I want Amelia on solids tomorrow!) none of those options applied. I decided to suck it up and buy another high chair.

After her nap, we head to Babies R Us to pick out another high chair. Asher helps me pick it out and we're out of there before I spend Elijah's next three checks on pink frilly dresses. I swear, I didn't buy a single article of clothing!

Okay, here comes the amazing part - I put this sucker together in 15 minutes! I know because I timed myself. 15 minutes!!! With both kids in the same room - no naps, video games or movies. I am Super Mom! And now, since you've been such patient readers, here are photos* of my crowning achievement for July.

*Don't judge me because I changed her clothes so she would match the chair. Having a daughter makes you do things you never dreamed you'd do!

This picture is adorable. Of course you changed her. Anyone who knows you wouldn't think that is weird.

I totally LOVE this highchair and would have bought one myself except we don't have room for one... so we went with the "space saving" ugly-as-sin booster seat. Boo! :(

I am so impressed that you did it all by yourself! Way to go! I love that you changed her clothes to match the highchair! I think I would have done the same thing! It just makes for great pictures! She is so cute!
